In 1977, Nigel Foster and Geoff Hunter set off on a shoestring adventure to explore a country of just 222,000 people. Hear the story of the First Circumnavigation of Iceland by Kayak, and how such an expedition came about. Rewind to a time before dry suits, cellphones, the home computer, and the World Wide Web, twenty years before Google came onto the scene. With no hand-held waterproof VHF radios, or GPS, with no way to remotely access a weather forecast, is anyone for curried seagull?
Nigel’s presentation expands on some of the stories he tells in his newly released, 2023 book, Iceland by Kayak. Nigel is an English kayaker living in Seattle and he has published a dozen books, including instructional manuals, touring guides, and travel tales. He's a well-known accomplished writer, kayak instructor, speaker, and producer of many kayaking products. He makes his living designing kayaks and equipment, writing, and from kayak instruction around the world.
