September Club Meeting - Navigation Skills with Jesse Janicula

Paddlers of all skill levels will appreciate this class by Jesse Janicula, who will talk about dead reckoning, as in calculating a course through current by estimations of speed, direction and elapsed time. Learn about basic chart use, parallels, dividers and current predictors.


Jesse is the owner of Fidalgo Paddlesports in Anacortes. He is an ACA level 4 sea kayak instructor, an ACA level 2 sea kayak instructor trainer, an ACA level 2 SUP instructor as well as an ACA Advanced Communications and Adaptive Paddling Instructor. He has been paddling for over 20 years worldwide with expeditions in Alaska, Oman, Mexico, Argentina and the Philippines, and can usually be found teaching classes at Deception Pass during the summers. His favorite spot to paddle in the San Juans are the water around Stuart Island or in Cattle Pass.
