The class was cancelled because there were no signups within the timeframe required by the instructor.
The first day will be at the chart table, and the second day is on the water weaving your way through the beautiful San Juan Islands. You will learn the foundations of sea kayak navigation and tidal planning. Using a compass, chart, and watch, you will be introduced to concepts such as fixing your position, planning for currents and wind, reading a chart, and staying on course in areas of moderate tidal movement. You will be well on your way to becoming the captain of your craft, and ready to set out on your own adventure!
Meeting location for Saturday will be Fidalgo Pool and Fitness Center. We will use their classroom to get acquainted with charts, compass, planning materials and etceteras. (laptops/phones for internet/Deep Zoom access)
Day 2, Sunday, we will meet at Skyline Marina and plan to kayak around Burrows and (possibly) Allan Island. The idea will be to spend the first day planning the trip for day 2, while looking at some other helpful navigation skills, and then putting it all together on day 2.
