HITW group kayak trip to Hill Island, located between Read and Cortez Islands, in the beautiful BC's Discovery Island archipelago.
The cost for this trip is $385.00 paid to Teresa Flodin, upon emailing her at: taf.seakayaker@gmail.com, and being then accepted as per skill level. The trip is FULL, but accepting qualified members for a waiting list.
The Penn Island group is a short paddle from our dock. Humpback whales and their calves hang about, there, but not always guaranteed sightings. September can be sunny, but probably cool especially at night. Last time I led this trip in July, we were grateful for the propane heated showers, and the wood stove in the evenings.
The cabin is equipped with limited propane supply for an oven, fridge, showers. Wood stove, firewood, and a great place to just hang and watch or hear the whales as they hopefully swim by. Whale action is unpredictable season to season. There are some bedrooms, or tenting in the nearby meadow, or on the deck is also possible. Outdoor toilets only.
We'll do day paddles from the cabin. Saturday, September 5, we travel by ferry to Duke Pt., Vancouver Island, and drive north to Campbell River, ferry to Quadra Island, Heriot Bay, Leave Heriot Bay, Sunday September 6, early afternoon, on the launch that can carry all boats and gear to Hill Island 10 km distance. Paddle all week, clean the cabin, deck space, and be ready to leave Sunday morning, 9/13/26 on the launch with boats and gear, and journey back home.
