About this event

HITW group kayak trip to Hill Island, located between  Read and Cortez Islands, in the beautiful BC's Discovery Island archipelago.

The cost for this trip is $385.00 paid to Teresa Flodin, upon emailing her at: taf.seakayaker@gmail.com, and being then accepted as per skill level.

4/30/26 there was a cancellation, opening up one spot on the July trip.   Also, consider signing up on the waitlist.  Things happen!  ??

The Penn Island group is a short paddle from our dock.   Humpback whales and their calves hang about, there, but not always guaranteed sightings.  Sunny warm July weather is also unpredictable.   Last time I led this trip in July, we were grateful for the propane heated showers, and the wood stove in the evenings.

The cabin is equipped with limited propane supply for an oven, fridge, showers.   Wood stove, firewood, and a great place to just hang and watch or hear the whales as they hopefully swim by.   Whale action is unpredictable season to season.   There are some bedrooms, or tenting in the nearby meadow, or on the deck is also possible.   Outdoor toilets only.

We'll do day paddles from the cabin, possible to do one overnight if the group agrees ahead to bring camping equipment.  Saturday July 18, travel to Campbell River, ferry to Quadra Island, Heriot Bay,  Leave Heriot Bay, Sunday July 19th, morning, on the launch that can carry all boats and gear to Hill Island 10 km distance.    Paddle all week, clean the cabin, deck space, and be ready to leave Sunday morning, on the launch with boats and gear, and journey back home.
