Wait list is in effect

The plan is to arrive to Skagit Island around 11:00am and then spend some time assessing the camp site as well as pruning, sawing and clipping on the trail as necessary. Please bring garden clippers and gloves. I will bring along a couple of saws. Please pack a couple of IKEA bags or other large waterproof bags so that we can cut up thistles to take back to our compost containers at home.

Following our work, we will plan to hike around the island as spring/early summer is a great time to see some beautiful wild flowers. Be sure to bring lunch and adequate water. If time permits, we can consider paddling a bit more before heading back towards Cornet Bay.

REQUIRED GEAR/PAPERWORK: Immersion gear, VHF and tow rope (let trip leader know if you do not have a radio or tow rope).

CHALLENGING CONDITIONS:Navigate boat and ferry traffic, crossing shipping lanes, limited landing sites, open water crossing 1+ nm, Currents above 2.5 kts, exposed paddling.

FOOD PROTECTION AND POTABLE WATER AVAILABILITY: Carry all water as there
is no drinkable water supply on the way.

LAUNCH SITE AND ACCESS CONSIDERATIONS: Pebble beach, easy access, lovely view, and trash can by launch site.

ROUTE: We will leave Cornet Bay and ride the current to Skagit Island where we will check out the Washington Water Trails Association camp site.

LAUNCH SITE ARRIVAL TIME: 9:15am
LAUNCH TIME: 10:00am
RETURN TIME: No later than 2:30pm

PARKING AVAILABILITY: Ample parking is available at Cornet Bay; Discovery Pass required.

RESTROOM AVAILABILITY: Toilets available at Cornet Bay, Skagit and Hope Islands.

OTHER NOTES: The trip is weather-sensitive so it might be canceled if it is windy.
