ROUTE: We will take the Ferry from Tsawwassen to Sturdies Bay on Galliano Island (10:25 am), then drive to Montague Provincial Park and park vehicles. Launch around 1pm. Camp May 9th and 10th at Chivers campground on Wallace Island. May 11 and 12th at James Bay on Prevost Island.
Fr 5/9 Flood is 0.75 kn between 1and 4 pm, then slight ebb. Montague Park to Chivers Campground on Wallace Island. 10 NM

Sat 5/10 Paddle NE and explore the adjacent Secretary Islands. Return to camp at Chivers. 10 NM

Sun 5/11 Paddle SW with the early morning ebb to James Bay on Prevost Islands. 12 NM

Mon 5/12 Circumnavigate Prevost Island 12 NM

Tu 5/13 Cross to Galliano Island and return to Montague Park. Return ferry from Sturdies Bay at 5:55 pm


WHY THIS TRIP WILL BE AWESOME: This is a great opportunity to paddle and camp before the summer rush. The wild flowers should be showing their beauty.


DISTANCE:  About 54NM

TRIP PACE: Moderate (2.5 kts)

SKILL LEVEL RATING: SKII-III

REQUIRED GEAR/PAPERWORK:Passport to enter CanadaUsual HITW requirements: Dry suit, PFD, (16 ft or more) sea kayak with bulkheads and deck lines and VHF radio recommended. Appropriate shelter and supplies for camping in the Gulf Islands in May.

LOGISTICAL TRIP COSTS: Campsites are not reservable. Cost is $5 per person/night.

Cost for ferry is C $115 outbound and C $55 return (car and 2 people) . Parking at Montague is $12 a day/car.

FOOD PROTECTION AND POTABLE WATER AVAILABILITY: Most BC Trail campsites have bear caches. No water available at the campsites. Bring adequate water and food for trip.
