ROUTE: Launch next to the Guemes Ferry Terminal; come ashore at Washington Park.
              
WHY THIS TRIP WILL BE AWESOME: The location is familiar and the distance is short but it is tricky to paddle a straight course when crossing a strong, 3.5 kt current. This will be a challenging paddle.

DISTANCE FOR ENTIRE TRIP:  5 nm

TRIP PACE Speedy (3 kts)

SKILL LEVEL RATING: SKIII

REQUIRED GEAR/PAPERWORK: HITW trips require a 14'  or larger kayak with bulkheads, PFD, and dry suit. A VHF radio is strongly encouraged.

LOGISTICAL TRIP COSTS: no fees

CHALLENGING CONDITIONS:   Ferry traffic
Crossing shipping lanes               Currents above 2.5 kts
Possible wind and waves             Open water crossing (+1 nm)

SCHEDULE:
9:00 AM   Car shuttle completed and back at Guemes Ferry
                   (Expect to receive email early in the week regarding organizing the shuttle
)
9:30 AM    Boat prepped; Dressed to paddle; Briefing time
9:45 AM    Launch
11:30 AM (estimated)   Ashore at Washington Park; Debrief

PARKING AVAILABILITY: Anacortes Waterfront Park and street parking near the Guemes Ferry Terminal. No  parking fees.

RESTROOM AVAILABILITY: Restrooms at Ferry Terminal and at Washington Park
